Job Title: Custodial Supervisor, Nights

Job Description:

What Youll be Doing:

The successful candidate for this Custodial Supervisor position will supervise shift custodial operations for 25-40 custodians assigned to up to 20 buildings within the Building Services Department. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and scheduling custodial activities; requisitioning general custodial supplies; maintaining inventory for assigned buildings; and approving and monitoring work hours, overtime, and flextime.

The Custodial Supervisor will travel among assigned buildings and inspect individual areas for compliance with customer service standards, department expectations, safety procedures, and other operational requirements. This position will consult with the General Manager regarding daily shift activities and provide updates on operational challenges, concerns, and resource needs. The successful candidate will foster teamwork and support staff professional development.

What Were Looking For

Education and Experience

Qualified Candidates Will Need:

  • Associates degree in supervision or related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience (Associate's degree and 3 years of supervisory experience or a High School Diploma and 5 years of experience)

Skills Needed:

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources
  • Must have proven leadership and customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills when dealing with customers, employees and peers
  • Conflict resolution skills needed
  • Strong computer skills required including knowledge of Outlook, word processing and spreadsheets
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematics
  • Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions during snow removal operations
  • A valid US or Canadian drivers license

Whats Nice to Have:

  • Five years supervisory experience
  • Custodial experience and supervision
  • Knowledge of campus buildings
  • Working knowledge of custodial techniques
