The City of Simi Valley is looking for a dependable, motivated Custodian who takes pride in creating clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for our community. If you enjoy hands‑on work, staying active throughout the day, and being part of a team that keeps City buildings and facilities running smoothly, this role offers a chance to make a real impact. You'll help maintain public spaces, support daily operations and special events, and play an essential part in keeping our facilities in top condition for residents, staff, and visitors.

POSITION DETAILS:

  • Salary range: $20.75 to $26.47 hourly + Excellent Benefits

  • 3% Cost of Living adjustment increase effective 7/13/26

  • 3% Cost of Living adjustment increase effective 7/12/27

  • Generally, salary placement is at the beginning of the salary range.

  • Advanced placement may be granted depending on related education and experience.

  • Full-time regular position

  • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 3:00pm-11:30pm

  • Overtime and/or weekend work may be required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:

  • Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

Experience:

  • Some custodial experience is desirable

License or Certificate:

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver license.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Custodian

  • Communicate clearly - ensure instructions, updates, and safety concerns are shared effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Work well as part of a team - supporting coworkers and contributing to a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Provide helpful customer service - interacting politely and professionally with staff, visitors, and facility users.
  • Prioritize safety - following proper procedures for chemicals, equipment, and facility hazards.
  • Have some custodial knowledge - bringing basic experience or familiarity with cleaning practices, tools, or facility maintenance.
