Job Summary:
The Custodian plays a critical part in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment by performing various janitorial tasks, including cleaning and sanitizing facilities, managing waste disposal, and ensuring compliance with safety and cleanliness standards. The Custodian is vital to supporting our commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming in all areas of the facility.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, offices, and common areas to meet hygiene standards.
- Empty trash receptacles and handle waste disposal following company guidelines.
- Replenish supplies such as paper products, soap, and sanitizers.
- Conduct periodic deep cleaning tasks, including window washing, floor buffing, and carpet cleaning.
- Respond to spills, leaks, or other incidents requiring immediate cleanup.
- Assist in maintaining the outdoor areas, such as walkways, parking lots, and entrances.
- Ensure compliance with company safety protocols and identify/report any hazards or maintenance needs.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Support additional tasks or projects as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and materials, including proper handling of chemicals.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and with multiple team members.
- Ability to properly assess and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, often changing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally heavier objects with assistance.
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and kneeling throughout the shift.
- Comfortable with repetitive movements such as reaching, grasping, and handling materials.
- Ability to work in varying temperature environments.
- Ability to climb ladders or stairs and perform tasks at heights when necessary.
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job.
Work Environment:
- Wood manufacturing facility.
- Moderate noise levels.
- Wood dust in limited quantities.
