The Cedarburg School District seeks a responsible, energetic individual with a positive attitude and excellent work ethic to serve as a 2nd shift custodian. The nature of the position requires an individual who is reliable, self-motivated, reports to work on time each day and is able to work independently. The primary responsibility of the position is to ensure safe and clean learning/work environments by continuously cleaning and maintaining the building and grounds.

Job Objectives: To perform all custodial duties to keep facilities clean and orderly. Provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment in which to learn, play and develop.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean all assigned areas using proper methods and equipment
  • Develop good will for the school through a courteous, cheerful and helpful attitude
  • Collect and dispose of all waste in proper containers
  • Perform all facets of floor maintenance (shampoo, extract, scrub, strip, finish, etc.)
  • Move/deliver all furniture, equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Remove snow as required
  • Provide building security (lock and unlock as assigned)
  • Basic understanding of maintenance to buildings and equipment
  • Maintain work orders and their completion in a timely fashion
  • Take care of custodial equipment providing proper preventative maintenance
  • Submit work orders for equipment and facilities needing repair outside your capabilities
  • Supervise evening and summer custodial and clearning operations
  • Perform such duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds

Reports To: Director of Buildings and Grounds

The weekly schedule during the school year is: M-F (1:00 PM-9:00 PM). During 8 weeks in the middle of summer, a four-day (Monday through Thursday) schedule is in place involving 10 work hours (6:00 AM-4:30 PM) per day.
