Position Summary The Custodian Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the custodial department across all school facilities, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and maintenance. This role involves managing staff, coordinating schedules, maintaining supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and cleaning protocols while supporting educational operations through facility maintenance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Daily Operations Management - Conduct daily meetings with all schools to coordinate facility needs - Perform regular facility rounds to ensure quality standards - Manage and maintain equipment inventory and operational status - Develop and implement cleaning schedules and protocols - Conduct regular inspections of all facilities and grounds - Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and supply usage - Complete any other tasks as required/needed Staff Management & Scheduling - Train and supervise custodial staff members - Create and maintain staff schedules, including coverage for sick leave and vacations - Process time and attendance through frontline approvals - Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback - Address personnel issues promptly and professionally - Ensure proper training documentation Event Management - Coordinate facility preparation and staffing for school events - Oversee pre-event setup, during-event support, and post-event cleanup - Manage playing surfaces, locker rooms, and bleacher preparation - Schedule appropriate coverage for all facility events Facilities Care and Maintenance - Oversee maintenance of all facilities including: - Restroom facilities (toilets, flushers, dividers) - Lighting systems and fixture maintenance - Athletic facilities and gyms - Common areas and classrooms - Manage grounds maintenance including parking lots and entryways - Coordinate snow removal and salt application during winter months - Supervise summer maintenance projects including painting and deep cleaning Safety and Compliance - Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and safety protocols - Maintain updated Safety Data Sheets (SDS) - Conduct safety training sessions - Investigate and document incidents - Implement proper PPE protocols Pay Rate: Hourly - $18.00 - $30.44 DAYS: Primarily M-F 8am - 5pm some weekends req Required Qualifications Education and Experience - High school diploma or equivalent required - Minimum 3-5 years custodial experience - At least 2 years supervisory experience - Valid driver's license - Ability to pass background check and drug screening Knowledge and Skills - Thorough knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment - Understanding of safety regulations and OSHA requirements - Strong leadership and team management abilities - Excellent organizational and time management skills - Proficient in basic computer applications - Effective written and verbal communication skills - Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities - Physical ability to perform custodial duties when necessary - Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness standards - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Working Conditions - Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed - Physical requirements: standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching - Exposure to cleaning chemicals and various weather conditions - On-call availability for emergency situations - Year-round work with increased activity during summer months and winter weather events Benefits - Competitive salary based on experience - Health, dental, and vision insurance - Paid time off and holidays - Professional development opportunities - Life insurance Equal Opportunity Employer
