Overview:
Auburn University Facilities Management is seeking dedicated and dependable candidates for a 3rd shift Custodian position with the hours of 10:00 PM-6:30 AM. Our custodians are vital members of our team, playing an important role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, employees, and visitors across campus.
In this role, you will take pride in maintaining the appearance and functionality of university facilities by performing a variety of cleaning tasks, including mopping and waxing floors, washing windows, dusting, and managing trash disposal to ensure spaces are in excellent condition for daily activities. You will also be responsible for maintaining cleaning equipment and supplies, assisting with building inspections to identify custodial needs, and supporting campus events by helping arrange tables and chairs as needed.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, values teamwork, and takes pride in making a visible impact every day while supporting Auburn University’s commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Cleans University buildings (restrooms, classrooms, and common areas) to ensure that facilities are in suitable condition for activities, which may include (but not limited to) sweeping and mopping floors, washing windows, dusting, sanitizing surfaces, and trash disposal.
- Maintains equipment and supplies in order to complete tasks.
- Assists with waste disposal and recycling efforts.
- Reports maintenance and/or safety issues.
- Operates and ensures proper functioning of cleaning and floor care equipment.
- Transports custodial supplies and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
- Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
