Facilities Management at CU Boulder encourages applications for 2 Custodial Staff! These positions clean and sanitize facilities for students, staff, faculty and customers on the Boulder Campus.

Facilities Management (FM) is responsible for the overall physical development and maintenance of the campus. The mission of the department is to provide a safe physical environment that promotes the advancement and transfer of knowledge!

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Team Cleaning Program: employees will rotate through the different specialist positions. Perform these duties as scheduled on the area floor plans. Rotation through different specialists at the same time and some employees may be on a team of 1performing all specialist duties. The position must also perform area substitution duties in vacant areas or to cover for employees on leave and perform emergency clean up duties as necessary. Employees must wear proper personal protective equipment as required. Notifies supervisor or lead worker of safety incidents, near misses and all potential hazards. Maintains safe work practices, participates in department safety meetings and completes all assigned trainings. The position covers the entire Boulder Campus and it could be assigned to any campus building or campus location.
- Snow and Ice removal: Remove all snow and ice as necessary from walks and stairs. Apply de-icer as needed in order to keep the entry open and safe.
- As an essential services employee the position is responsible to respond to other duties as assigned on an as needed basis. Specialty and emergency work: Emergency floods - Perform initial emergency clean up; Pick up water or debris then extract carpeted floors and upholstered furniture with disinfectant. Clean upholstery by hand or with extractor as scheduled. Move or assist in the moving of heavy furniture incompliance with F/M and Risk Management policies, to accomplish the work assignment. Perform emergency cleaning, water pick-ups as needed. Participate in the "Eyes and Ears Program" of the University to help promote safety at the university. The position will serve on "Emergency Response Teams" as needed.
- Routine duties: Clean and perform minor maintenance on all custodial equipment to keep it in proper working order. Report all equipment needing repairs to the Team Supervisor. Empty and clean all vacuums, auto scrubbers, buckets and hydro- and hepa-vacs daily. Keep the custodial workstation clean and well stocked with supplies and materials needed to perform the work in the assigned area. Maintain the custodial workstation in a safe manner, add water to floor drains as needed, report updates to building floor plans as needed.
- The position must decide what type of specialized floor work is needed, does the carpet require deep extraction cleaning or will bonnet shampooing result in a clean carpet. What type of floor equipment will be needed to accomplish the work assignment, will auto scrubbing and top-coating with wax be sufficient or dose the floor need to be completely stripped and re-waxed. Employee must have ability to read and comprehend lab safety signs, symbols and postings. Must be able to create and place safety signs as needed to help prevent accidents.

- We have 4 positions available for this Swing Shift schedule! The work schedule for these in-person positions is Monday - Thursday 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm and Friday from 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm. These positions may be required to work alternative shifts.
- These positions are eligible for our Facilities Management Employee Referral Program.

- The annual salary for this role is $40,248.
- If you have prior state-classified experience in the same class series as this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per the state Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.
