Salary Range: 2025-26: $22.32 - $29.15 (10 Steps)

Required Skills: Preference will be given to the individual who can demonstrate the following.

  • Possess a high school diploma, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in reading, math, oral and written communications.
  • Use proper equipment and/or teamwork to move items or articles over 75 pounds.
  • Must pass a physical examination.
  • Remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.

Essential Functions of the position:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of materials, equipment, and cleaning methods, building safety, and all duties listed for Custodian I.
  • Accept direction and suggestions from immediate supervisor.
  • Follow written directions, write legibly, and complete reports using current computer hardware and software, if necessary.
  • Direct the work of custodial staff.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills while working with students, parents, and staff in a positive public relations mode.
  • Ability to use district procedures to request repairs, materials, and supplies.
  • Follow proper practices that allow for a good learning environment.
  • Knowledge of building security, safety practices, fire drill procedures, and securing the building.
  • Provide input to administration for required evaluations of custodial staff.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize, lead, and communicate effectively.
  • Assist in planning and implementing use of the building facilities and grounds by authorized users, and maintaining custodial rotation schedule for overtime opportunities.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of electrical equipment such as, but not limited to, changing ballasts and cord repairs.
  • Ability to locate and operate all utility shut-off and disconnects.
  • Ability to assess and report problems to appropriate supervisor.
  • Ability to replace switches and receptacles.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to:
  • maintain traps, flush valves, faucet repairs, hand auger, fitting and valves.
  • make basic dry wall repairs, paint, caulk, and glaze windows.
  • maintain door closures, panic bars, hinges, door and window handles, and understand the basic function of door locks.
  • change air filters, belts, and calibrate thermostats.

Responsible for all safety standards related to the position.
