Job Description

Job Duties

Primary Duties

Custodial Supervisor

  • Supervise a group of 3 or more full-time Custodians, including both Custodian I's and Custodian II's, as well as student workers and temporary employees to accomplish the overall work assignment.
  • Communicate the needs and requirements among custodians and building occupants.
  • Organize, schedule, monitor, and inspect the work of each custodian.
  • Supervisory decisions are made at the Custodian III level for leave approvals and leave management as well as writing reviews and documentation to support appropriate personnel actions. Also responsible for assuring assigned areas and buildings are adequately supplied with items for custodial services.
  • The Custodian III will work with the Custodian IV to make sure all applicable training for assigned Custodians is completed in a timely manner. This includes managing and inspecting building entrance snow removal and ice melt spreading.  

Deep cleaning projects, scheduling, inspections

  • Employee will be responsible for scheduling, organizing, and managing deep cleaning projects of Custodian II's and Custodian I's, such as restoring carpet, shampooing furniture, stripping and waxing floors, scrubbing non-wax floors, washing walls, detail cleaning air vents, exterior windows, and cleaning light fixtures.
  • The Custodian III will also work with the Custodian II's to ensure their deep cleaning projects are scheduled at appropriate intervals and at times that will not cause issues with building occupants or other campus priorities.
  • The Custodian III will inspect the area pre-and post-cleaning to ensure appropriate actions are taken and any concerns are addressed.
  • The Custodian III is expected to conduct routine inspections of all assigned areas to ensure compliance with university and departmental cleanliness, health, and safety standards.

Ancillary Duties

  • Assist other Facilities Staff
  • Position is required to assist all other Physical Plant and Custodial staff as needed to include other duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor.
  • The Custodian III will also modify Custodian II and Custodian I duties and schedules to accommodate these requests. Position may be required to work outside of normal work hours to supervise Custodian II's and I's as needed for University Functions, special events, or emergency situations that may arise.

Salary

$51,360 to $71,196.00
