Job Goal:
To provide the best educational environment to all students by making sure that the educational facility is in a safe, healthy, clean, efficient, and attractive condition.
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations.
- Communicate district performance standards and ensure that they are being met.
- Take responsibility for training and development needs of assigned staff.
- Work and lead in a positive and professional manner with administration, public, and staff.
- Assign the work of others.
- Perform a variety of other duties as may be assigned.
- Conduct or coordinate weekend and holiday building checks.
- Obeys all traffic laws.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of proper cleaning and maintenance procedures. Fundamental knowledge of cleaning supplies, their uses, and applications
- Skills necessary to operate equipment, including but not limited to snow blowers, mowers, cleaning scrubbers, and vacuums.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, and carpentry to apply to basic maintenance.
- Fundamental knowledge of building maintenance and general repair, including but not limited to locks/lockers, doors/door closures, and glass replacement.
- Fundamental painting, wallpapering, and plastering skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to effectively
- Strong organizational abilities, ability to prioritize tasks, and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team to complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to tolerate and work in high-pressure situations during which large volumes of work must be accomplished in a short period of time, sometimes without a clear delineation of priorities.
- Functional computer ability to use Microsoft Office, e-mail, and building control systems as needed. Working knowledge of all equipment and service systems in the District.
- Effective leadership skills in directing the work of assigned staff to complete work in an efficient and effective manner.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality relating to District and personnel matters.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Keep assigned areas in the safest possible condition at all times.
- Look and identify hazardous, unsafe, and unhealthy conditions that may exist in the building.
- Have the well-being of the students, employees, and visitors in mind at all times.
- Take immediate and appropriate action related to any unsafe conditions that may exist in their building by eliminating the problem or reporting it to the supervisor and/or building principal.
- Provide leadership for the Buildings and Grounds Team.
- Perform, coordinate, and assist in setting up for various building activities.
- Assign duties and work cooperatively with assigned staff.
- Maintain building records in an accurate, neat, and orderly manner.
- Interface and coordinate with administration and staff to provide for the custodial needs of the building.
- Perform repairs in the areas of plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
- Grounds keeping duties, including but not limited to mowing, trimming, weeding, and snow removal.
- Secure building/area as needed.
- Maintain tools and equipment according to the manufacturer''s recommendations.
- Procure supplies to properly maintain inventories. Perform all cleaning tasks associated with assigned runs. Replenish supplies (paper, soap, etc.) as needed.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The employee has frequent contact with students and members of the community. While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is regularly required to engage in conversations and is required to utilize communication skills, such as speaking and listening. The employee is required to sit, stand, and walk at regular intervals throughout the workday. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Essential functions require a high level of concentration and attention to detail.
