Job Description We are seeking a Custodian to support the daily cleanliness, sanitation, and upkeep of facilities. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on custodial experience who can also provide basic leadership and training to other custodial staff.
The Lead Custodian will operate a variety of cleaning equipment, maintain assigned facilities and grounds, identify maintenance or supply needs, and help ensure that work areas are clean, safe, and properly maintained.

Serve as a Lead Custodian and perform leadership duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Operate custodial equipment including floor scrubbers, floor washing machines, buffers, vacuums, and other cleaning tools.
Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax, and buff floors manually or using powered equipment.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including showers, toilets, sinks, floors, walls, and mirrors.
Empty trash and maintain clean and sanitary work areas.
Clean offices, classrooms, and other assigned facilities.
Dust and clean furniture, vacuum and shampoo carpets, wash walls and windows, and maintain orderly work areas.
Inspect and police assigned grounds, picking up trash and identifying maintenance or facility issues.
Report facility deficiencies, equipment issues, and material/supply needs to the appropriate supervisor.
Maintain and perform light maintenance on custodial equipment.
Assist with training and onboarding of new custodial employees.
Follow established safety, sanitation, and facility procedures.
Perform other custodial duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications & Skills
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Minimum 1 year of custodial or janitorial work experience.
Valid Driver’s License.
Hands-on experience operating custodial equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and other cleaning machines.
Knowledge of general cleaning, sanitation, and floor-care procedures.
Ability to safely perform physically demanding cleaning activities, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, sweeping, mopping, and moving equipment.
Ability to work independently and follow instructions and established procedures.
Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and detail.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Ability to provide guidance or training to other custodial staff.
Ability to identify and report facility, equipment, or maintenance concerns.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Lead Custodian, Senior Custodian, Janitorial Lead, or Facilities Maintenance experience.
Experience working in schools, government facilities, offices, commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, or other large facilities.
Experience training or supervising custodial staff.
Familiarity with floor stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet-cleaning equipment.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to perform routine custodial and physical activities, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, reaching, lifting, moving cleaning equipment and supplies, and operating floor-care machinery.
