    Major Duties

    Under the general supervision, CSUN PPM Custodians may work independently or as part of a custodial team to provide general cleaning and custodial care and support for assigned campus buildings, facilities, structures and adjacent areas and/or portions.

    • Cleaning and maintaining assigned areas
    • Cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and replenishing supplies
    • Cleaning and maintaining campus floors, including sweeping, dry and/or wet mopping, and performing restorative floor care.
    • Responding to custodial/cleaning emergencies
    • Safeguarding assigned areas from unauthorized use and access by locking and unlocking doors and windows
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • Knowledge of custodial cleaning methods, sanitation practices, floor care, carpet care, waste and recycling procedures, and the proper use of cleaning supplies and materials.
    • Skill in operating and maintaining powered equipment, tools, vacuums, floor-care equipment, power washers, and other custodial materials.
    • Ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments, replace lamps, check fire extinguishers, arrange furniture and equipment, and support campus events.
    • Ability to accurately record time and projects in the PPM electronic CMMS system, identify facility repair needs during custodial rounds, and respond effectively to custodial and cleaning emergencies.
    • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position

     

    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

    • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
    • Classification: 2010 / Custodian / 1
    • The anticipated HIRING RANGE is $3461 – $3747 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $3461 - $4752 per month.
    • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; 4:00 pm – 12:30 am, Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends. 
    • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period. 
    • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
