Description

This position is responsible for the custodial care and maintenance of department facilities

• Empties and cleans waste receptacles; collects recyclables.
• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms; restocks restroom supplies.
• Cleans and sanitizes water fountains.
• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes and buffs floors; spot-cleans carpets.
• Dusts and polishes furniture.
• Makes minor electrical and plumbing repairs; reports repair needs to appropriate personnel.
• Maintains cleaning and equipment supply inventory.
• Cleans windows and mirrors.
• Cleans blinds and window sills.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Paints exterior and interior surfaces.
• Mows grass and performs other lawn maintenance functions at department facilities.
• Pressures washes sidewalks and other exterior surfaces.
• Performs related duties.

Requirements

• Knowledge of city safety policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of the use of various cleaning chemicals.
• Skill in operating such cleaning equipment as a vacuum cleaner, buffer, and various hand tools.
• Skill in following instructions.
• Skill in prioritizing work.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• No experience requirements.

Salary Description

$11.81/hour
