Description
Under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor and immediate work direction of a Lead Custodian, perform a variety of custodial duties related to maintaining assigned rooms, buildings, facilities and related areas in a clean, orderly and safe condition.Incumbents assigned to the Custodian classification perform varied custodial duties related to maintaining District facilities in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Incumbents assigned to the Lead Custodian classification oversee and provide work direction and guidance to assigned custodians and participate in a variety of custodial duties to ensure that District facilities are maintained in a clean, orderly and safe condition.

Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge in the use of cleaning agents including solvents, disinfectants, detergents and polishing agents is required. Past experience in standard custodial practices, procedures and techniques in an organization with extended hours of operation and multiple high-traffic areas is required. A valid California drivers license is required. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed below and one year of continuous custodial or janitorial experience.

Employment is contingent upon possessing and maintaining a valid California Drivers License. This position may require operating a District or personal vehicle in order to complete assigned work within the scope of the position duties.

While performing the duties outlined in this classification, employees in this classification are regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk at a normal pace for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders to heights of 10 feet to replace lights; bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch; speak clearly enough to provide information to Lead Custodian or supervisor; and hear and understand voices to receive work direction; maneuver around in narrow or crowded places when cleaning classrooms.
Employees assigned to this classification must regularly lift, carry and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required for positions assigned to this classification include ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

The work assigned to this classification is typically performed in an indoor and outdoor environment. While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes from cleaning supplies and dust or other airborne particles. The work environment is noisy.
