    CUSTODIAN

    Supervisor: Building Principal FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Custodial Terms of Employment: 260 Days; 8 hours/day Supervises: none Position Type: Full-Time

    Nature of Work Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for the students, staff, and community of the Cobre Consolidated School District.

    Duties and Responsibilities Open and secure building(s) as required. Clean the school/building as required each day under the direction of the Building Principal. Clean and remove trash from halls, classrooms, restrooms, gym, shower rooms, locker rooms, cafeteria lunchroom, offices, staff lounges, auditoriums, courtyards, school/building grounds, parking lots, strip, mop, and wax floors, clean walls, doors, and windows. Remove broken glass where hazardous and replaces with emergency closure as needed. Adhere to District's adopted Code of Ethical Behavior. Keep a neat and clean personal appearance. Respond to emergency situations when required. Relocate or arrange classroom and building furniture as directed by the Building Administrator, teachers, or staff. Unload and deliver supplies and materials to designated areas within the building, including classrooms, as directed by the Building Administrator, teachers, or other staff members. Maintain regular and punctual attendance, including arriving on time and completing the full scheduled work shift. Work overtime when required. Must wear and monitor a two-way radio at all times during scheduled work hours to ensure constant accessibility; no exceptions. Communicate with the Building Principal on a regular basis. Maintain good quality of work performance while demonstrating economic use of supplies and proper care of tools and equipment Demonstrate safety precautions in job execution in order to minimize on-the-job accidents and follow proper safety procedures

    Exhibit professionalism by maintaining good attendance and adhering to established work schedule Comply with Code of Ethics, administrative directives, board policies, state and federal statutes and rules and regulations Communicate and display courteous and professional behavior toward students, the public, the Building Principal, School and District Administrators, staff and peers. Safeguard the confidentiality of information pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable state and federal statutes Evenings and weekend work may be required Perform such other tasks as may be assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. High school diploma or equivalent.
    2. Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
    3. Ability to pass a criminal background check.

    Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Knowledge of: various machines and equipment including but not limited to computer, telephone, instructional technology. Ability to: understand oral and written instructions; motor coordination required to coordinate eyes, hands and fingers when operating machines and equipment essential to the job; manual and finger dexterity required to operate machines and equipment precisely and rapidly.

    Environmental and Physical Factors: Work is often performed indoors; may occasionally work outdoors; may be exposed to contaminants, such as cleaning solutions; may be exposed to diseases and infections.
