REPORTS TO: Director of Construction

PURPOSE: The Custodian performs a variety of cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance duties to ensure the building and surrounding areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained. This position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness according to established procedures and schedules, assisting with room setups, and supporting overall facility operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid North Carolina Driver's License required
• Previous custodial or facility maintenance experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to safely operate custodial equipment used in routine cleaning
• Basic knowledge of safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs. as needed

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize building areas daily and as needed
• Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain restrooms
• Operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers and burnishers
• Ensure building entrances and surrounding grounds are cleared of debris daily
• Check fire extinguishers, exit signs, and emergency lighting as part of routine safety

inspections

• Maintain custodial equipment in proper working condition
• Assist with room setups and breakdowns for meetings and events
• Clean and sanitize building areas daily and as needed
• Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming

• Operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers and burnishers
• Ensure building entrances and surrounding grounds are cleared of debris daily

• Maintain custodial equipment in proper working condition
• Assist with room setups and breakdowns for meetings and events
• Serve as the assigned custodian for the Maintenance Department, rotating weekly with other

custodial staff

• Assist with special events that are scheduled after-hours if needed
• Perform other related duties as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months
