Position Information

New Hanover County is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our Facilities Management Department. This role is essential in ensuring a welcoming and well-maintained environment for employees and visitors. If you take pride in maintaining clean and functional spaces, we'd love to hear from you. Responsibilities for this role include:

• Cleaning floors and stairwells, entryways, hallways, offices, and break rooms
• Cleaning, sanitizing, disinfecting, and restocking of restrooms
• Removing and disposing of trash
• Monitoring/reporting equipment breakdowns and maintenance needs of facility

Hours:

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Off on Mon/Tues).

The building location assignment may vary depending on the needs of the department. Some shifts include evenings and weekends. Must be flexible to work weekends, holidays, and during emergency situations.

Salary Information:

The target hiring range for this position is $35,360 to $47,736. The full salary range for an incumbent hired into this position is $35,360 - $60,112. Starting salary will be based on qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, and budget. Candidates with exceptional qualifications and experience may be considered for a starting salary above the target hiring range, but not to exceed the maximum of the salary range.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• Education through the 8th grade and one (1) year of progressively responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
• Valid North Carolina Drivers License & good driving record is required.

Licenses/Certifications

• Valid Drivers License (from any state) and good driving record required at time of application.
• Valid North Carolina Driver's License required by first date of employment with good driving record.
