Your Role

Akkodis is seeking a Custom Software Engineer for a 6-Month Contract job with a client in Chicago, IL (Remote). The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on experience with CakePHP development, software engineering, and custom application development, along with a proven ability to design and deliver scalable software solutions.

Rate Range: $78/hour to $80/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Custom Software Engineer job responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain custom software solutions using CakePHP and modern development frameworks.

  • Build, enhance, and optimize application components to support evolving business requirements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration and successful solution delivery.

  • Analyze complex technical challenges and recommend scalable, efficient software solutions.

  • Participate in application architecture, software design, code reviews, and development best practices.

  • Support system enhancements, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and production issue resolution.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong hands-on experience with CakePHP development (must-have).

  • Expertise in Software Engineering principles and best practices.

  • Experience in Custom Application Development and enterprise software solutions.

  • Strong background in Software Design & Solution Architecture.

  • Experience developing scalable, secure, and high-performing web applications.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration abilities.

  • Experience working within Agile development environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading development teams or acting as a technical subject matter expert.

  • Knowledge of modern software architectures, APIs, and integration frameworks.

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based application environments.

Pay Details: $78.00 to $80.00 per hour
