Job Overview:
The Customer Account Specialist I will be a key member of the Customer Account Management team, assisting residential customers with a variety of inquiries ranging from basic to complex. This role requires strong customer service skills, the ability to handle sensitive information, and a commitment to providing an exceptional customer experience. The position is hybrid, requiring local candidates who can commute within 45 minutes to the Norfolk, Virginia area. Candidates must be flexible with work hours, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays, and must be prepared to work on-site.
Responsibilities:
- Assist residential customers with inquiries, including high bill concerns and billing reconciliation.
- Provide detailed explanations and applications of electric rates to customers.
- Deliver support and assistance to resolve customer issues effectively.
- Handle sensitive information, including Private Personal Information (PPI) and Company Sensitive Information.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team while also being able to work independently as needed.
Qualifications:- Minimum of 2 years of customer-facing experience (in person or phone).
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and video conferencing tools.
- Ability to multi-task between activities and screens during customer interactions.
- Experience working in customer service with a focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred but not required.
- Preferred experience in inbound call centers and/or utilities industries.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with customers, supervisors, and peers.
- Bi-lingual skills are a plus but not required.
