Position Overview:
Are you detail-oriented and customer-focused? Do you enjoy engaging with people? Do you enjoy helping others? If you answered yes to these questions, working for a State Farm independent contractor agent (aka “agent owner”) may be the career for you! State Farm agents market only State Farm insurance and financial service products, based in the confidence that State Farm is the largest, and often highest-rated insurance company in the country.

Chuck McFarland’s State Farm is located in Seattle, in the Queen Anne neighborhood. This full- time team member role will be a hybrid role, with a combination of in-office and remote work. Team member should be licensed for P&C (property and casualty) upon hire, and will also be required to be licensed for L&D (life and disability) within 90 days of start date.

You will build and develop customer relationships within the community to promote State Farm products, including auto, home, and life insurance. This position will allow you to experience working in an agent's office and, if you have a desire to own and operate your own business, this opportunity will give you a chance to explore becoming a State Farm agent yourself. Though this position is largely focused on service, our agency approach includes believing in an almost complete overlap of customer service and sales, as we help identify risks in people’s lives and assist them in addressing those risks. Successful team members are able to pivot between opportunities for the customer, keeping the customers’ needs in mind at all times.

Requirements:
  • Interest in marketing products and services based on customers’ needs
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, and interpersonal
  • People-oriented
  • Detail-oriented
  • Proactive in problem-solving
  • Able to learn computer functions and navigate online company resources
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to multitask within a fast-paced atmosphere
  • Coachable attitude, with a desire to be a life-long learner
  • Cheerful, kind attitude, ready to serve customers and work with our team
  • Desire to work in a setting where diversity is honored, and where all voices are welcome
Responsibilities:
  • Establish customer relationships and follow up with customers, as needed
  • Use a customer-focused, needs-based review process to educate customers about insurance options
  • Develop leads, and schedule appointments with leads for follow-up
  • Identify customer needs and market appropriate products and service
  • Pivot to sales opportunities – look for missing opportunities for gaps in coverage and needs and communicate those to customers
  • Handle all Beginning-of-Day (BOD) tasks: non-pay cancellations, cancellation notices, supporting documents/forms, address changes, customer billing and payments, Drive Safe & Save processing
  • Respond to premium rate questions
  • Maintain and clean up ECRM customer accounts
  • Follow up on underwriting notices with both clients and State Farm Underwriting: renewals, notices, cancellations
  • Help with claim information needed (i.e. driving exposures)
  • Process coverage change requests via cases
  • Provide prompt, accurate, and friendly customer service
  • Keep immaculate records, via our CRM system
  • Take on other duties as assigned per the needs of the office
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation includes:
    • an annual salary, starting at $50,000, to be reviewed annually.
    • a commission/bonus plan (which is subject to change, based on agency and business needs).
  • Benefits Allowance – $360/month (currently, health insurance is found by the team member via the Affordable Care Act, but we are looking at a group insurance plan).
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) – to be used for any time off is 80 hours per year, increasing to 120 hours in third year of employment.
  • Paid federal holidays off (currently 13 days per year).

Flexible work from home options available.

Compensation: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
