Read the hours before anything else
This is an afternoon-to-evening customer service desk: 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM if that suits your schedule better, on-site in our Wayne, New Jersey office, on a set weekly schedule you commit to. The shift always runs into the evening — that is when our customers need the most help. If evenings do not work for you, this is not your role, and we would rather say so here than three interviews in.
What the desk actually is
We are a corporate travel management company. The customers you will look after are business travellers whose plans are changing right now — a cancelled flight, a hotel that lost the booking, a car that never showed. You take the call, calm the situation, chase the airline or hotel for an answer, log everything accurately in our systems, and keep a shared inbox from piling up. Catching a wrong confirmation number before it becomes an expensive problem is the whole job in one sentence.
You will do well here if you
- Have handled real customers face-to-face or on the phone — retail, food service, a front desk, a call centre, a pharmacy counter, a bank window
- Stay calm and organised when several things are urgent at once
- Work quickly without letting details slip
- Pick up new software by clicking around rather than waiting to be shown
- Can commit to the same days and hours every week
What we do not require
No travel industry experience — we teach the systems. No degree requirement. Customer service experience of any kind counts for more here than a title.
Compensation and schedule
- 16.00 to 18.00 per hour
- Part-time, fixed weekly schedule
- Afternoon/evening shift — 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM — on-site in Wayne, New Jersey
