Customer Service/Driver

Job Summary:

Under the direction of, and reporting to the Branch Manager, the Store Sales and Support/Delivery Driver works to build strong customer loyalty and build retail clientele in the retail store and with delivery customers. The position also provides warehouse support which includes inventory receiving, inventory control and stocking product. Delivering to our accounts is required based on Sales Team and Branch Manager direction. This role also serves as a back-up to our Route Driver and could make hotshot deliveries.

Key Responsibilities:

Showroom Floor Management

• Maintain a clean, organized, and attractive showroom display
• Ensure products are properly labeled, priced, and stocked
• Monitor inventory on the showroom floor and report low stock
• Coordinate with the store/branch manager for replenishment

Branch Operations

• Support daily opening and closing of the showroom
• Prepare basic sales reports and maintain sales records
• Assist with billing, invoicing, and payment processing
• Follow company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Hotshot deliveries as requested
• Fill-in Route Driver in the absence of current driver

 Sales Targets & Promotion

• Work towards achieving individual and branch sales targets
• Inform customers about promotions, offers, and new arrivals
• Participate in visual merchandising and promotional activities

 New Customer Development

• Focus on supporting account managers and retail customers for new business acquisition through branch support and alignment.
• Utilize company specialists and manufacturers as a tool to drive account conversions and territory support as needed
• Track progress against new customer objectives and adjust tactics as necessary.

Customer Advocacy and Personal Relationship Management

• Act as a trusted advisor and advocate for the customer and employee ensuring needs are met and concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
• Balance and support the organization with PTO management and scheduling in advance to mitigate business disruption

 Preferred Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent.
• 2-5 years of sales experience, welding and industrial equipment sales preferred.
• Experience working with high pressure cylinders preferred.
• CDL Class B with Hazmat Endorsement
• High level of ethics, honesty, and transparency.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with respect to Central McGowan operations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be a good team-player, detail oriented and good at multi-tasking.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software, and standard business equipment (phone, computer, copier/scanner, etc.).

Work Conditions:

• Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
• Twist, turn, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, stand, walk, and reach frequently in the performance of responsibilities.
• Apply manual dexterity, visual acuity and ability, for computer keyboarding, office equipment use, reviewing detailed reports, information, and fine print.
• Adhere to all proper safety standards and regulations including wearing proper protective equipment and gear as it relates to the job.
• Must possess valid MN driver’s license and be able to do some local travel.
• The work environment is primarily indoors, operating standard office equipment and point of sale terminals.  Will have some exposure to a variety of weather conditions outside of store.
