Atlantic Marine Warehouse Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Customer Service Assistant to support our Customer Service Account Managers in delivering exceptional service to our customers. This position reports directly to the Customer Service Account Manager and works in close coordination with the Operations Manager, Lead Operators, and warehouse Operators.
This is a hands-on development role and the ideal stepping-stone toward an Account Manager position. You will receive training across multiple areas of port container logistics, including warehouse operations, container drayage coordination, inventory management, payroll support, and customer communications. You will spend time both in the office and on the warehouse floor assisting with daily logistics, documentation, and operational support to ensure customer expectations are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the Customer Service Account Manager with full ownership of assigned accounts by handling daily coordination, communications, and follow-up tasks.
• Cross Train and provide coverage for key accounts during Account Managers PTO or as needed.
• Assist with payroll functions
• Coordinate container bookings, drayage schedules, pickup/delivery appointments, and shipping documentation in collaboration with the Account Manager, Operations Manager, drayage carriers, and customers.
• Handle weekend and holiday dispatch coverage on a rotating basis with the Account Manager.
• Maintain accurate data in the Warehouse Management System (WMS), perform inventory data entry, cycle counts, and generate daily customer reports.
• Assist with day-to-day receiving, shipping, storage, and inventory activities for assigned customer accounts.
• Help investigate and resolve Overages, Shortages, and Damages (OS&D) claims.
• Process invoicing and support audit-related tasks for assigned accounts.
• Provide constant communication with customers, trucking companies, and drayage carriers regarding shipment status and documentation.
• Work alongside Lead Operators and forklift Operators on the warehouse floor when needed to support receiving, transloading, staging, and shipping activities.
• Assist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for assigned accounts.
• Help ensure the AMW office is staffed during business hours.
• Maintain organized office workspaces and files.
• Ensure full compliance with all company safety policies while working in both office and warehouse environments.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned to support account management and operational goals.
Requirements
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in warehousing, customer service, truck dispatch, or logistics preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and willingness to learn WMS and barcode scanning systems.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Physical ability to work on the warehouse floor and lift up to 25–50 lbs. when assisting with operations.
• Availability for weekend and holiday dispatch coverage as needed, with a standard limit of 40 hours per week unless otherwise authorized.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card (preferred).
