General Job Information

JOB SUMMARY

This position is located in the Department of Behavioral Health, Saint Elizabeths Hospital. Provides a variety of information services and tasks associated with the daily activities in support of the Solution Center's main focus as a one stop shop concept for customers inside and outside the Hospital. Gathers customer's information and determines the issue by evaluating and analyzing problems. Interacts with outside customers to provide information in response to inquiries and concerns. Resolves problems by clarifying issues; research and answers inquiries; logs in and issues badges; and issues cell phones and 2-way radios to staff. Serves as long distance, overseas, local and information operator, fire and police dispatcher (911) and emergency services and SEH Safety and Transportation dispatcher. Documents in logbooks, all emergency calls and incidents involving patients and staff and safety/security related matters. Issues parking stickers: records and updates computer records on visitors sign in logs, vehicle registration and critical events. Maintains sign in/out sheets of patients.

Qualifications

Position requires one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position to the filled, and has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Education

Minimum Education Requirement

Position open to applicants who graduated from a District of Columbia High School or received a certificate of equivalency (GED) AND who are presently residents of the District of Columbia.

Work Experience

Experience providing customer service in a hospital, or similar facility, responsible for the care of patients.

Duration of Appointment: Permanent

This position IS in the collective bargaining unit, and you may be required to pay an agency service fee through an automatic payroll deduction

Work Environment

Work is performed in a controlled environment and involves some exposure to moderate risk of accidents and requires following basic safety precautions.

Tour of Duty: Rotating Shifts (To include weekends, and holidays)

THIS POSITION REQUIRES A PRE EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL AND CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK.

Position Designation: This position is deemed as "Security Sensitive" pursuant to Section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C. Personnel Regulations, in addition to the general suitability screening, individuals applying for or occupying safety sensitive positions are subject to the following checks and tests:

  • Criminal background check;

  • Traffic record check (as applicable);

  • Consumer Credit Check (as applicable);

  • Reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test;

  • Post-accident or incident drug and alcohol test

RESIDENCY PREFERENCE

A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present proof of bona fide District residency and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.
