Customer Service Worker – Usher / Merchandise Seller (Pool)

Major Duties

Under the general supervision of the House Manager, the Customer Service Worker – Merchandise Seller provides customer service support for events at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) and other campus theaters supported by The Soraya, such as the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall, and sells Soraya-branded and artist merchandise during performances and events.

• Scanning or tearing of tickets; distributing programs; assisting patrons with finding their seats; assisting patrons with late seating; assisting with the enforcement of policies pertaining to patron possession of large personal items, food and beverage, and use of recording devices within the theatre; basic crowd control.
• Setting up, maintaining, and cleaning up of hospitality, dining, and kitchen areas according to artist's/renter’s needs; moving and setting up catering/food service equipment; observing all clients’ dietary and allergy considerations.
• Assists patrons in the sale of Soraya-branded merchandise and/or artist merchandise during performances and events. Provides the highest level of customer service by following proper cash and credit card handling procedures.
• Attends meetings and training sessions as needed, including but not limited to, team meetings, customer service and disability assistance training, and emergency evacuation training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current American Heart Association or Red Cross CPR, AED and/or First Aid, and TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) certifications are preferred. Bilingual is a plus.

• Alpha/numeric data entry at 35 keystrokes per minute desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of performing arts venue operations, including security, safety, parking, access, ticketing, seating, VIP protocols, emergency procedures, and patron policies.
• Skill in providing courteous, professional customer service to artists, renters, guests, patrons, and audiences in a fast-paced event environment.
• Ability to accurately scan and process tickets, distribute programs, assist with seating and late seating, support crowd control, and address patron needs.
• Skill in selling merchandise and following proper cash and credit card handling procedures, while adapting effectively across Audience Services, Artists Entrance, and Hospitality assignments.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

• Classification: 0101 / Helper/Aid / 0
• The anticipated HIRING RANGE is $16.90 – $17.90 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $16.90 - $25.36 per month.
• This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined.
• The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
