We are seeking Customer Solutions Representatives, CSR, to support workforce and career services in Bastrop, Texas.

The Customer Solutions Representative plays an important role in connecting job seekers with employment opportunities, workforce services, educational resources, and community programs. This position works directly with customers by phone, virtually, and in person to understand their employment goals and connect them with resources that can help them successfully transition into new employment.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with strong customer service, community services, workforce development, career services, employment services, or public-facing experience who enjoy helping people achieve their professional goals.

These positions are temporary with the potential to become permanent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate with customers by telephone, virtually, and in person to assess employment goals and workforce service needs.

  • Provide information and assistance to job seekers transitioning into new employment opportunities.

  • Review available job opportunities and provide appropriate referrals to qualified job seekers.

  • Educate customers about the local labor market, employment services, community resources, and educational opportunities.

  • Assist customers with resume development and improvement.

  • Provide guidance with employment applications and job-search activities.

  • Coach job seekers on interview techniques, preparation, and professional presentation.

  • Connect customers with appropriate workforce programs, services, and community partner resources.

  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with internal team members, the public, and external community partners.

  • Follow up with Career Center customers to support continued engagement and successful outcomes.

  • Contribute to established Career Center customer service and performance goals.

  • Identify opportunities to improve workforce services based on customer and local labor market needs.

  • Maintain professional and accurate customer interactions and documentation.

  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Proof of automobile insurance and a good driving record.

  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers.

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying needs and communication styles.

  • Ability to effectively manage challenging situations and difficult customer interactions.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to multitask and learn multiple systems, platforms, programs, and services.

  • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to learn and use word processing, spreadsheets, and other business systems.

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with management, coworkers, Board staff, community partners, and the public.

  • Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

  • Ability to travel locally between assigned Career Center and satellite office locations when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six months or more of relevant professional experience.

  • Previous experience in workforce development, career services, career counseling, employment services, customer service, social services, community services, or a related environment.

  • Knowledge of the local communities being served, including available employment and community resources.

  • Understanding of local labor market conditions and employment resources.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.

Training & Travel Requirements

Candidates selected for this opportunity should be prepared to participate in required training associated with the September 14 class.

Initial training will take place in San Marcos, Texas, two days per week for three weeks.

The Career Center also works with satellite locations. Employees may occasionally be required to travel to an assigned satellite office based on operational needs. Because local travel may be required, candidates must maintain a valid driver's license, proof of automobile insurance, and a good driving record.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?

The ideal candidate is approachable, professional, organized, and genuinely enjoys helping people. You should be comfortable speaking with job seekers from different backgrounds, asking questions to understand their goals, providing appropriate resources, and helping customers navigate employment and career-related services.

Previous workforce development experience is helpful, but candidates with transferable experience in customer service, community outreach, social services, employment services, education, nonprofit programs, or other public-facing roles may also be strong candidates.

Physical & Work Requirements

Physical requirements may include occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds, along with standing, sitting, bending, and walking as necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position. The role requires appropriate visual acuity, speech, and hearing.

Working conditions are primarily within an office environment. Occasional driving and local travel may be required, and flexible hours may occasionally be necessary based on operational needs.
