Job Summary

The Customs Compliance Coordinator role is responsible for ensuring all import activities comply with U.S. customs laws and regulations. This position manages tariff classification, duty and tax compliance, customs documentation, broker coordination, and productcompliance across a high-volume retail import operation.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure full compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations for all imported goods and support special customs programs such as First Sale
  • Coordinate the customs clearance process and assist all import filing by working closely with customs brokers, to ensure compliant filings and prompt cargo release.
  • Review and approve customs entry data to ensure accuracy and consistency with commercial documents
  • Assist new product compliance guidance and ensure products meet regulatory requirements such as CPSC, FCC, FDA, and other applicable agencies.
  • Analyze shipping costs and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Prepare, review, and manage import documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, and entry summaries, especially first sale custom declaration
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments and provide regular updates to management.

  • Coordinate with warehouse on appointment, shipping damages and receiving exceptions.
  • Maintain the HS Code classification and duty rate database to evaluate tariff exposure and mitigate classification risks
  • Communicate with manufacturers, and testing laboratories to update product registration including not limited to CPSC,FDA
  • Resolve customs holds and coordinate customs examinations with the broker and logistics provider
  • Communicate with customs brokers to continuously improve clearance processes and efficiency, and maintain and update customs clearance standard operating procedures
  • Work with finance on monthly duty reconciliation
Additional Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of International trade regulations, First sale Declaration, HTS classification, CBP regulations, and import documentation
  • Hands-on experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Familiarity with FDA, CPSC, FCC, or other product regulatory frameworks
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP) and customs data analysis
  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) a plus
  • Bilingual in Mandarin preferred but not required
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Business, or related field
  • 3+ years of customs compliance experience, preferably in Section 301, ADD/CVD, First Sale, or high-SKU retail imports


Pay Range

USD $31.69 - USD $35.00 /Hr.
