Job Title: Customs Department Manager Position Summary: The Customs Department Manager bridges the gap between the Bartlett decorating team and the Customs & Weddings Manager who handles guest relations. This role oversees daily customs department operations to ensure every customized cake, cookie, and specialty item is produced efficiently, accurately, and to high quality standards. Key Responsibilities Department Supervision: Lead and supervise decorators, ensuring assigned tasks are completed on time while maintaining strict company standards for cleanliness, safety, and orderliness. Process & Inventory Management: Oversee compliance with established decorating techniques, quality guidelines, inventory controls, and supply ordering. Cross-Functional Communication: Act as the primary operational liaison between store managers, the Customs & Weddings Manager, and the decorating team to ensure seamless execution of guest orders. Team Leadership: Foster open communication, maintain professional behavior at all times, and drive an organized, efficient work environment. Operational Adaptability: Perform other duties as assigned to support bakery operations (duties may evolve based on business needs).

Relationship Building: Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members, store management, and vendors. Organization & Time Management: Strong organizational skills to prioritize complex custom orders, delegate tasks, and manage tight deadlines. Efficiency: Ability to streamline daily workflow while maintaining high detail and product consistency.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands Environment: Primary work is in an air-conditioned production environment, with routine exposure to extreme cold temperatures, including entering a 0F walk-in freezer (appropriate cold-weather gear is provided). Physical Requirements: Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the shift. Lifting & Vision: Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Schedule: Mainly weekdays, with some weekend days to assemble cakes on site or be on call in case a custom is damaged.
