Job Summary: The Cutting Tool Specialist (CTS) is a revenue-focused, field-based sales specialist responsible for aggressively growing cutting tool and metalworking product sales within an assigned territory. This role partners closely with Turner Supply Company Account Managers while also independently pursuing new opportunities, qualifying accounts, and expanding market share.
The CTS serves as both a sales leader and technical authority, driving customer conversions, competitive wins, and long-term account growth through application expertise, manufacturer partnerships, and hands-on field engagement.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Revenue Growth & Territory Execution
• Achieve and exceed defined sales budgets for cutting tools and related products
• Develop and execute territory sales plans that drive new business, share-of-wallet growth, and margin improvement
• Identify, qualify, and convert new cutting tool opportunities through proactive prospecting and field sales activity
• Drive corporate account initiatives and product strategies within the territory
Customer Engagement & Opportunity Development
• Build strong, trust-based relationships with decision-makers, operators, and engineers
• Understand customer machining processes, workflows, and cost drivers to uncover sales opportunities
• Lead large cutting tool and machine tool projects from opportunity identification through close
• Conduct tool testing, trials, and demonstrations to prove value and generate measurable cost savings
Sales Team Enablement & Collaboration
• Support Turner Supply Account Managers with technical expertise, sales strategy, and on-site customer engagement
• Partner with Inside Sales to provide clear direction for quoting, projects, and follow-up execution
• Provide sales support for large strategic accounts and smaller remote accounts
Manufacturer & Product Strategy Leadership
• Grow and manage relationships with cutting tool manufacturers
• Lead manufacturer-driven sales strategies and product rollouts
• Recommend preferred manufacturers to maximize discounts and margin opportunities
• Stay current on new and emerging cutting tool technologies
Training, Visibility & Market Leadership
• Train sales team members on CNC machining basics and cutting tool applications
• Conduct regular branch visits to identify opportunities and support local sales efforts
• Attend manufacturer trainings and industry events
• Position Turner Supply as a cutting tool leader in the territory
Strategic Sales Support
• Support management with large cutting tool quotes
• Recommend pricing and margin strategies
• Assist with building standardized cutting tool inventories
• Collaborate with E-commerce and Marketing
• Participate in hiring and development of future cutting tool sales talent

Experience and Educational Requirements
• High School Diploma required
• 5+ years of cutting tool experience
• Trade School Diploma preferred
• Distribution or technical sales experience preferred
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment as well as warehouse and field sales environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, i-Pads, smartphones, photocopiers and fax machines. This role is also expected to function occasionally in a warehouse capacity operating machinery, driving company vehicles, and working with company products.

The outside sales role requires some amount of physical work. While in the office, the physical demands are low – sitting at a desk, filing, and using office equipment. While working in the field on outside sales calls, this function may require you to be required to be in outside weather elements – rain, heat, snow, etc. Field sales may be required to lift heavy products or occasionally operate industrial equipment. A field sales representative should be able to lift 75 lbs., should be able to climb a ladder and should be able to demonstrate any product or piece of equipment that Turner Supply Company sells
Travel: This position requires as much as 20% travel with occasional overnight stays.
