Job Description:

The CV Invasive Specialist I performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring some proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist I performs a variety of technical procedures that require some independent judgment. The CV Invasive Specialist I assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required. Follows Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals (ACVP) Scope of Practice or for Electrophysiology the NASPE Standards of Professional Practice for the Allied Professional in Pacing and Electrophysiology.
An RN will be present to supervise the care of patients during moderate sedation.

Posting Specifics

  • Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts / week (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM), rotating days
    Call: Required (average of a few weeknight call shifts and ~2 weekends per month)

  • Entry Rate: $35.25 + depending on experience

Job Essentials

  • Participates in procedure room preparation and post-procedure turnover to support efficient workflow.
  • Provides procedural assistance as a scrub, circulate, or monitor technologist in diagnostic and interventional procedures, in accordance with cath lab policies and scope of practice.
  • Performs hemodynamic monitoring, including recordings, calculations, and documentation of findings.
  • Assesses patient condition throughout procedures, documents observations, and notifies the physician of deviations from expected parameters.
  • Maintains and applies knowledge of cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomic variations, and treatment interventions.
  • Operates imaging and monitoring equipment; understands and applies principles of x-ray generation and radiation safety.
  • Provides patient education, emotional support, and ensures patient comfort and safety throughout the procedural experience.
  • Supports management of procedural supplies, including appropriate use and inventory awareness.
  • Administers medications under the direction and supervision of the physician, in accordance with certification and scope of practice.
  • Assists with post-procedure care, including sheath removal, closure device support, and achieving hemostasis as applicable.
  • Completes accurate and timely documentation of procedures, related events, and required reporting data.
  • Performs basic equipment setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and point-of-care testing as needed.
  • Collaborates with physicians and team members to support a safe, effective, and team-oriented procedural environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
  • PALS (for children’s hospitals) or ACLS (for adult settings) required within 6 months of hire.
  • Education and Experience (one of the following): Bachelor's degree in health science with six months of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, CNA, Surgical tech) -OR- Graduate of a Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or Nursing program -OR- Associate or diploma in health science with one year of health care experience (e.g., Cath Lab, EP, EMT, Paramedic, CNA, Surgical tech) -OR- Gaduate of a non-programmatically accredited invasive cardiovascular technology program with at least one year of specialty training and a minimum of 800 clinical hours. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution and will be verified.
  • Current license/credential, as applicable to the role (e.g., RN, RRT, Radiologic Technologist)
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • RCIS certification, or willingness to obtain within 1–2 years of hire

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
