    Position Details:

    OverviewPerforms cardiovascular ultrasounds according to protocols.

    Responsibilities1. 1. Performs sonographic examinations on all types of patients withexpertise inthe areas of echocardiographic and vascular flow studies.1.1 In a caring and compassionate manner, positions and immobilizespatients as necessary to achieve imaging of the requested regionand or function.1.2 Consistently selects and operates ultrasound equipment according todepartmental standards in order to obtain optimum quality images.1.3 Accurately identifies all ultrasound images.1.4 Processes all necessary hard copy images according to standards.1.5 Completes all examinations in a timely manner with closeconsiderationgiven to patient scheduled time.1.6 Demonstrates expertise when required in the preparation andassistancein special and/or invasive procedures2. 2. Effectively communicates comprehensive and accurate sonographerInterpretations.2.1 Accurately and consistently obtains patient history and clinical data2.2 Records technical impressions and data documentation completelyandaccurately in accordance with departmental standards.3. 3. Practices appropriate nursing procedures and provides qualitypatient care.3.1 Provides personalized care by showing compassion, respect, andresponsiveness to the needs of the patient.3.2 Practices sterile technique in accordance with hospital policies.3.3 Adheres to all infection control guidelines.3.4 Regularly renews CPR certification prior to expiration.3.5 Properly disposes of soiled linen, trash and hazardous wasteaccordingto hospital policy.Completes all Epic and HeartSuite responsibilites.4.1 Ensures order entry and scheduling are completed appropriately in EPIC.4.2 Ensures patients are checked in, exmas begun and ended, templates started, and charges are entered in EPIC.4.3 Ensures studeis are correctly sent to HeartSuite or Ultravisual PACS.4.4 Ensures control sheets are placed in the appropriate reading physician's box.4.5 Ensures pediatric echos are logged in the correct log book.4.6 Ensures critical value notifications are recorded in the appropriate log book.5. 5. Plans and organizes professional services.5.1 Reviews all assigned requisitions for accuracy and applicableclinicalinformation.5.2 Prepares room and equipment in advance and ensures thatassigned area is kept clean, orderly, and stocked.5.3 Maintains current certification of professional registry if part of the acrredited lab.6. 6. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.6.1 Maintains current certification of professional registry.7. 7. Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific agegroups to include Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.7.1 Demonstrates knowledge of the changes associated with aging.7.2 Demonstrates ability to provide care based upon physical,psychosocial, cultural, safety and other age related factors.7.3 Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information interms of the patient needs.

    • Qualifications
    • Education: Graduate of an approved school of ultrasound or on the job training. Registered or registry eligible in ultrasound.
    • Licensure: Registered or registry eligible for echo and vascular ultrasound.
    • Experience: 1 year of experience preferred.
    • Certifications: Registered or registry eligible for echo and vascular ultrasound.
    • Other: CPR certification required.
