Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) – CVICU provides specialized, patient-centered care to critically ill patients with cardiovascular and cardiothoracic conditions. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individualized care, monitors hemodynamic and cardiac status, administers medications and advanced therapies, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.

  • CCRN certification preferred.

  • Recent CVICU, ICU, CCU, or critical care nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, monitor, and provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients.

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic status, ventilators, and other critical care equipment.

  • Administer medications, IV therapies, vasoactive drips, blood products, and advanced cardiac treatments.

  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.

  • Assist with the care of post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients.

  • Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical records.

  • Follow infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
