DoD SkillBridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII. \n \nFor this internship, the SkillBridge intern will train as an Engineering Technician 3 within HII-Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated HII Supervisor, with the goal of learning the maintenance actions and duties required of our Engineering Technicians in support of the various Newport News Direct Support (NNS DS) customers such as test engineering and trades support within the E84 CVN 74/75 Work Control / Test Department at the Newport News Shipyard. The intern will be assigned special projects as needed.\n \nDesired End State (3 month target)\n\n At the end of three months, the intern will be able to further develop skills needed to provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. The intern will be able to gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Use personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
