JOB SUMMARY:
The Certified Welding Inspector is responsible for supporting and maintaining welding quality, code compliance, inspection, welder qualification, and welding process controls across Module X Solutions’ manufacturing operations.
This position serves as the primary technical resource for welding quality and compliance and works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production to ensure welding activities meet applicable AWS, customer, and internal requirements. The role supports welding procedure administration, welder qualification, production troubleshooting, inspection, root cause analysis, training, and continuous improvement. Engineering-related design decisions are coordinated with the appropriate Engineering authority.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
·       Develop, qualify, implement, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and support welding documentation.
·       Establish and maintain compliance with applicable AWS, ASME, customer, and internal welding standards.
·       Analyze welding defects and production issues, conduct root cause investigations, and implement corrective actions.
·       Support new product introduction (NPI) activities by evaluating weld designs, joint configurations, materials, and manufacturing methods.
·       Develop and maintain weld maps, inspection criteria, and quality control requirements for fabricated assemblies.
·       Coordinate and support welder qualifications and certification programs.
·       Monitor welding performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
·       Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure welding requirements are clearly defined and achievable.
·       Assist Quality Assurance with inspection planning, identification of critical-to-quality (CTQ) elements, nonconformance investigations, and customer quality requirements.
·       Maintain accurate technical records, qualification documentation, and process control documentation.
·       Maintain, support, and audit the NDT program to ensure compliance with the company defined policies and procedures. 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Work Experience:
·       Minimum 5 years of experience in welding inspection, welding quality, welding coordination, structural fabrication, or a related manufacturing environment.
·       Strong working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and other welding codes and standards applicable to company products.
·       Demonstrated experience working with WPSs, PQRs, WPQs, and welder qualification programs.
·       Experience performing visual welding inspection and evaluating welds against applicable acceptance criteria.
·       Experience reviewing fabrication drawings, welding symbols, joint details, and welding specifications.
·       Experience investigating welding defects, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
Education: 
·       High school diploma or equivalent required.
·       Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related discipline preferred but not required.
·       Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
·       ASNT/Employer-based VT & MT Level II certification required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights.  When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
