Cyber Hunt Specialist 

JOB LOCATION: Dahlgren, Virginia 

JOB STATUS: Full Time

CLEARANCE: Top Secret

TRAVEL: Less than 10%

SALARY: $125,000 to $138,800

 

Astrion has a contingent opening for a Cyber Hunt Specialist supporting the U.S. Navy’s Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), located in Dahlgren, VA. In this role, you will proactively identify and isolate hidden, advanced cyber threats that bypass automated defenses. You will investigate suspicious activity, hunt for advanced persistent threats (APTs), and translate complex threat intelligence into actionable detection analytics. Additionally, you will analyze network traffic, endpoint telemetry, and log data to detect anomalous activity, map adversary tactics to frameworks, and harden our overall security posture. 

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics with a concentration in computer science or equivalent 
  • Five (5) years of professional experience with cybersecurity engineerinproviding expertise for support of user requirements of complex to highly complex software/hardware applications, hunt methodologies, advanced actor campaigns and exploits and telemetry refinement related to Cyber 
  • Capable of participating in all phases of incident response or hunt methodology (kill chain, pyramid of pain, diamond model).   
  • Provide expert level assistance to Digital Forensics and Incident Response and threat intelligence operations teams on advanced actor tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) related to Cyber 
  • Provide expertise for support of user requirements of complex to highly complex software/hardware applications, hunt methodologies, advanced actor campaigns and exploits and telemetry refinement related to Cyber.   
  • Provide assistance to Digital Forensics and Incident Response and threat intelligence operations teams on advanced actor TTPs related to Cyber. 
  • Remain current on industry direction, trends, and future capabilities with respect to cyber threat analytics.   
  • This position is required to be designated as IAT II level with a T5. 

 

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics with a concentration in computer science or equivalent 
  • CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, or CCNA
