Cyber Security Engineer (Expert‑Level)

Mission Intelligence Group is seeking an Expert‑Level Cyber Security Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of enterprise security solutions across complex mission systems. This role supports the protection and modernization of GEOINT and national security environments through Zero Trust principles, advanced security architectures, and cloud‑enabled capabilities.


Your Role

As an Expert Cyber Security Engineer, you will provide strategic and technical leadership in defining and advancing enterprise security architectures across cloud, on‑premise, and hybrid systems. You will guide programs in implementing secure, compliant solutions while aligning with ICD‑503 controls, Zero Trust frameworks, and emerging cybersecurity directives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide cybersecurity engineering support for new system development and legacy system modernization efforts
  • Define and evolve "As‑Is" and "To‑Be" security architectures across enterprise environments
  • Lead and support Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs) to identify optimal cybersecurity solutions
  • Translate mission requirements and regulatory guidance into secure system designs and architectures
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects to develop security architectures, roadmaps, and investment strategies
  • Advise programs on Zero Trust implementation and policy alignment
  • Support cybersecurity architecture across key domains, including:
    • Identity and Credential Management
    • Cross‑Domain Solutions
    • Cloud Security and Microservices Baselines
    • Enterprise Audit and Data Integrity
    • Secure Data Access and System Integration
  • Ensure systems and applications align with ICD‑503 and applicable cybersecurity compliance standards

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related STEM field, or:
    • 18+ years of experience as a Cyber Security Engineer in lieu of a degree
  • 18+ years of experience leading enterprise‑level cybersecurity efforts, including:
    • Architecture, design, development, and configuration of cloud and on‑premise systems
  • Experience engineering cybersecurity solutions using cloud‑based technologies, including:
    • Service‑Oriented Architecture (SOA)
    • SaaS, PaaS, IaaS
    • Elastic, scalable cloud environments
  • DoD 8570 Level II (IASAE) certification compliance
  • Active TS/SCI clearance, with ability to obtain SCI and successfully pass a polygraph

  • Experience engineering cybersecurity solutions using:

  • Experience establishing and implementing Zero Trust frameworks, including one or more of the DoD pillars:
