Overview

Cyber Training Range Engineer Location: Hurlburt Field, FL, JBSA, TX, and Keesler AFB, MS Job Status: Full time Clearance: TS/SCI

Astrion has an exciting opportunity coming up for a Cyber Training Range Engineer to join our team and support the 39th Information Operations Squadron (39 IOS). We are preparing to hire for Journeyman, Senior, and SME levels. We anticipate a start date in March/April 2026.

Cyber Operations Formal Training Support III (CyOFTS III) is a Cyber Schoolhouse program supporting delivery, development, and sustainment of cyber training across operationally relevant mission sets. The team supports instruction, curriculum and content development, training operations, and program execution at multiple Air Force and joint training locations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility • Education and experience depend on the skill level • Will require previous cyber training range experience • IAT level III certification required

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform cyber training range engineering duties consistent with the Cyber Training Range Engineer labor category • Apply IAT Level 3 certification requirements to the engineering support role • Support cyber and/or information technology duties and experiences required to build, integrate, and maintain training range capabilities (as applicable)

Key Responsibilities

• Comprehend the 39 IOS mission, the cyber training ranges and Weapon Systems associated with the training requirements • Augment and support mission support functions in the areas of course management support, faculty development, planning, project management, administrative support, facility management, cyber range systems, communications and information technology systems, audio visual (AV) systems in unclassified and classified environments • Purchase and install CTRE hardware and software at the Governments request • CTRE is essential to conduct psychomotor (hands-on) training for Cyber Weapon Systems (CWS) IQT, and work role training, which is focused on individual and not team or crew training environments

System Requirements

• Ensure CTRE equipment meets the following system requirements: • Risk Management Framework (RMF) • Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) • Approved Product List (APL) for unclassified and classified networks, a six-year lifecycle, or higher • Takes advantage of available electrical service, and Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) space, without modifying the current building infrastructure

Compatibility and Maintenance

• Maintain compatibility with current CTRE hardware and software, and the DAFNET while maintaining virtual machine compatibility with the AF Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) fielded CWS and/or Joint platforms and systems and the current curricula, training mission, and mission evaluation lessons • Allow and enhance the capability of the course developers and the instructors to provide courseware (cognitive and psychomotor or lecture and hands-on) that meets or exceeds the ACC Training Task List (TTL) or Joint requirements • Enable the ability to scale to meet increased tasking TPR at multiple locations and classifications without additional engineering or other build considerations; the system must simultaneously support at least three 30-student classrooms and at least 60 staff members (instruction and development) including but not limited to: at least 30K simultaneous virtual machines

Enhancements and Support

• Enhance the capability to provision and de-provision a full classroom of 30 students and four instructors, with a minimum of 150 virtual machines, each in an isolated training "sandbox" in commensurate with the Director of Operations approved class schedule as well as replicating data across the CTRE mesh network with no additional translation or reprogramming required • Enable the ability of current operators to dynamically assist, take-over, or restart any students training environment without disrupting the current classroom lesson for any other student(s), compatibility with the evolution and next generation CTRE mesh environment • Perform live back-up and restore from any node on the mesh network to any other node on the network

Coordinate with range administration and training stakeholders to support delivery of cyber training labs and exercises.
