Our client, a technology services company based in Austin, Texas, is hiring a Cybersecurity Analyst to join their information security team. This role is responsible for monitoring, detecting, and responding to security threats across the organization's network and cloud environments. The position operates on a hybrid schedule with regular on-site collaboration at their downtown Austin office.

The Cybersecurity Analyst will work alongside a dedicated security team to conduct vulnerability assessments, manage security tooling, and support compliance initiatives across multiple frameworks including SOC 2 and NIST. The role requires someone who is methodical, communicates clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders, and is comfortable working in fast-moving environments where priorities can shift.

Austin's growing technology sector makes this an active and challenging role. The team handles a broad surface area and values analysts who take ownership of their domain without requiring constant oversight. This is not a purely reactive position — the expectation is that the analyst will proactively identify gaps and recommend improvements to security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor SIEM platforms and security alerts for indicators of compromise or anomalous activity
  • Conduct vulnerability scans and coordinate remediation efforts with engineering and IT teams
  • Perform incident response investigations and document findings with clear timelines and impact assessments
  • Manage and tune endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools to reduce false positives
  • Support internal and external audits by gathering evidence and maintaining compliance documentation
  • Develop and deliver security awareness training content for non-technical staff
  • Review access controls and assist with identity and access management (IAM) policy enforcement
  • Maintain runbooks and incident response playbooks to ensure consistent team procedures

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a cybersecurity analyst or information security role
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM tools such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with cloud security concepts in AWS, Azure, or GCP environments
  • Working knowledge of frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, or SOC 2 requirements
  • Experience conducting or supporting vulnerability management programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings to non-technical audiences
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or CEH preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary between $95,000 and $128,000 depending on experience
  • Hybrid work schedule with flexibility on in-office days
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance effective on start date
  • 401(k) with company match up to 4 percent
  • Annual professional development budget for certifications and training
  • Paid time off starting at 15 days per year plus 10 company holidays
  • Employee wellness stipend for gym memberships or mental health services
  • Clear advancement path into senior analyst and security engineering roles
