About the Position

This position is responsible for coordinating and managing the agency's information technology audit process, including organizing audit requests, gathering and validating evidence, preparing responses, and tracking corrective actions through completion. It supports audit readiness and execution by maintaining accurate documentation, facilitating communication between technical teams, business units, and external auditors, and ensuring that audit activities are carried out efficiently and consistently. The role also supports risk assessments and internal control reviews and helps translate regulatory and technical requirements into clear, actionable steps for audit preparation, evidence collection, and remediation, all while exercising confidentiality and sound judgment when handling sensitive information.

What youll need to be Successful

Success in this position requires the ability to manage a structured and detail-driven audit process, maintain accurate and organized documentation, and coordinate effectively with technical teams, business units, and external auditors. The role relies on clear communication, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the capacity to interpret regulatory and procedural requirements and translate them into practical steps for evidence collection, remediation, and reporting. A disciplined approach to handling sensitive information, along with professionalism and good judgment, is essential. A solid technical understanding or familiarity with IT systems can be helpful in evaluating audit evidence and navigating system-related questions during the audit process.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5-8 + years of IT experience with emphasis in security and compliance. Hiring agency additional preferred qualifications: Professional certifications such as CISA, CIA, Security+ or other audit/cybersecurity credentials. Practical technical experience or a technical understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, cloud concepts, or application workflows to support effective audit evidence evaluation and coordination. Experience working within government agencies or regulated environments. Prior involvement in external audits such as OSA, SSA, or IRS audits.
