Join American Roller Company in Rock Hill as a Cylindrical Roll Grinding Machinist (Grade III)
It’s 5:00 a.m. in Rock Hill, SC. The shop hums to life. You review your work order, set up a manual lathe, and bring a rubber-covered industrial roll into perfect tolerance. With every pass of the grinder, you can see the numbers tighten on your pi tape. You log results on the computer, signal the crane, and move the next part into position. Safe. Precise. On spec. Now we’re hiring a skilled Grade III professional to help us finish rollers to exacting standards on 1st shift.
What You’ll Do
- Set up and run manual lathes and cylindrical grinders to meet production specifications.
- Perform consistent, high-precision rubber grinding on industrial rollers.
- Verify dimensions using pi tapes and tape measures; maintain tight tolerances.
- Document inspection results through basic computer data entry.
- Operate overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment safely.
- Keep your area clean, organized, and aligned with 5S and safety practices.
- Follow company policies and all safety procedures at all times.
What You Bring
- Hands-on experience operating a manual lathe (required).
- Rubber grinding experience (strongly preferred).
- Skill using a pi tape and tape measure with accuracy.
- Comfort with basic computer entry for inspection reports.
- Experience using overhead cranes.
- Mechanical aptitude, keen attention to detail, and pride in workmanship.
- Ability to work well independently and collaborate within a team.
Schedule, Pay, and Type
- Job Type: Full-time
- Schedule: 4-day workweek, Monday–Thursday, 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. (1st shift)
- Pay: $27.00–$29.00 per hour
