Description: Swim instructors and lifeguards are responsible for teaching swimming lessons to all ages. This includes instructing students and monitoring the pool and surrounding area for safety. Lifeguards are responsible for lifeguarding during swim classes, pool parties, and public swim times.
All applicants for this position will be hired as swim instructors first. When a swim instructor completes lifeguard certification, they will be considered a lifeguard.
Swim instructors and lifeguards implement YMCA practices that ensure the safety and quality of all swimming lessons.
Swim instructors and lifeguards must be able to make quick decisions and be assertive in enforcing pool rules and regulations. They are able to maintain a level of physical and mental readiness and communicate verbally to large and small groups of members effectively.
Worksite: Anaheim High School, Canyon High School, Cypress College, Kennedy High School, Pearson Park
Hours: Part time, non-exempt
Hours may vary between Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm and Saturday to Sunday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm
Time frame: Seasonal during summer months from March to November (subject to change)
Wage: $16.90-$18.00 per hour, depending on experience and certifications
