Responsibilities:

Under the direction of a Pathologist, in this role the Cytotechnologist will perform the following job duties:

• Responsible for the fixation, preparation and quantitative and qualitative analysis of human cell samples.

• Record keeping and documentation of daily work, diagnostic results and quality control.

• Perform specialized and complex technical tasks involved in screening slides of clinical specimens to detect evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions. These samples include GYN, Non-GYN and Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) specimens collected from all anatomic sites.

• Provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications:

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree

Preferred: Completion of formal training at an accredited school of cytotechnology or college degree in related area.

Necessary Skills:

• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and organize workflow
• Requires excellent decision making skills
• Must be detailed oriented
• Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner
• Knowledge of disease process represented in cells

Licensure/Certification

Required: Florida Cytotechnologist License

Preferred: Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License in Cytology

Experience

Required: Less than one year 

Preferred: 1-2 years of experience in cytotechnology
