A family based in Manhattan, New York, are seeking a nanny for their five-year-old son on a long-term basis. This is a wonderful role for the right person: a lovely little boy, a beautifully supported household, an excellent package and a good deal of travel with a family who genuinely look after their nanny. Their previous nanny was with them for two and a half years, and they would love to build the same kind of lasting partnership again.
Their son is starting kindergarten in September and is a real joy to be around. He is bright, sweet and active, loves sport, is an advanced reader and has lovely table manners. He has plenty of energy without being hyperactive, eats almost anything and is happy building and playing for hours. He loves going to Central Park, reading, chess, participating in after school activities with his friends. Education matters a great deal to the family, and above all they are looking for someone patient, calm and kind who can help him grow into a confident, thoughtful young person.
This is a sole-charge role focused entirely on the little boy. Day to day it involves school runs and after-school clubs such as hockey, planning days, supporting his reading and learning, and keeping his things organised. There is a full-time housekeeper who handles the laundry and cleaning, and a private chef who cooks for the family on Mondays and Thursdays. Alongside his daily care, the family would like the nanny to keep an inventory of his belongings, keep them tidy and well stocked.
As mum tries to do the morning school run herself, and the school day finishes around 2:15/3:15pm, many days begin in the early afternoon and run until about 7:30pm. The family plan a monthly calendar of the schedule in advance, so the nanny can see morning shifts, later starts and any babysitting ahead of time and plan accordingly. There is evening babysitting when the parents have work commitments or social engagements, along with some occasional Saturday cover on weekends. Occasional overnight stays or proxy parenting may be needed from time-to-time. An additional fee of $125 for overnights will be provided. The role is contracted at 56 hours a week, however many weeks while the child is in school, those hours will not be reached.
There is plenty of travel to enjoy. The family spend the summer in the Hamptons and take several trips through the year, including to their ranch in Jackson Hole, Maine, and Florida, along with a European vacation of around ten days in the summer. There will be travel to the Hamptons on long weekends during the school year and the family lives in the Hamptons full time during the summer months. Accompanying the family to the Hamptons for the summer is required.
Private accommodation comes with the role: a newly renovated apartment on the Upper West Side with a terrace, a short walk through the park to work or direct bus route, plus separate private quarters in the Hamptons with their own entrance. A house car is available for use in the Hamptons. There is no need to drive in the city. 28 days of holiday (federal holidays, such as 4thof July are not included in days off). Above all this is a stable, long-term role with a lovely family who value their nanny highly.
