Dance Instructor (Part-Time)

The Glenview Park District is seeking experienced and dedicated dance instructors interested in building a technically sound and culturally diverse dance department. Our year-round dance program is hiring for Youth Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Poms, Adult Tap, Ballroom/Social dance and Somatic based conscious dance. Dance classes serve individuals age 2 to 90+ under the direction of the Supervisor of Performing Arts and Recreation.

SCHEDULING: Mondays-Saturdays with flexible hours.

TARGET HIRING RANGE: Competitive pay! $25.00/hour+, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree from two- or four-year college or university with coursework in subject area being taught or supplemented by three (3) years teaching experience in dance
  • Must have experience working with children for youth classes
  • Strong communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of various dance techniques
  • Must be 18 years or older

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively participate in teaching/demonstrating dance movements.
  • Present new ideas regarding curriculum and dance programming to supervisor.
  • Create and develop age appropriate curriculum for the classes.
  • Prepare handouts for parents.
  • Take daily attendance and manage classroom behavior.
  • Choreograph and prepare participants for end of session shows and recitals as needed.
  • Upon hire, complete certification in CPR/AED, mandated reporter, and anti-harassment.
  • Other duties as assigned

Ideal teaching candidates will be dependable, creative, energetic, have a strong professional background in their artistic discipline and experience teaching children ages 3-18, plus adults.
