JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Dance/Poms Aide is responsible for providing an engaging and comprehensive poms experience and aide in the instruction to participants of various ages and skill levels. The role involves executing dance and poms classes aligning with program and district objectives catering to participants' diverse needs. The Dance/Poms Instructor is responsible for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting creativity and physical fitness through dance, in addition to implementing a choreographed dance for competitions. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
Aide in the implementation of age-appropriate curriculum and lesson planning.
Aide in leading and instructing assigned classes in accordance with direction from the Recreation Supervisor.
Aide in developing choreography, selecting music, and assisting at competitions.
Maintain accurate records such as attendance, participant progress, incident reports, etc.
Assist in evaluating participants' progress and performance regularly to help them improve their skills and confidence.
Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during classes and performances.
Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Attend training and staff meetings.
Maintain supplies and equipment. Report supply and equipment needs to Recreation Supervisor.
Provide high level customer service to participants, parents, etc.
Communicate with participants and parents as needed.
Assist in marketing and promoting Dance/Poms programs.
Assume responsibility for leading the program in the absence of the Lead Instructor or as directed by the Recreation Supervisor.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Other related job duties as assigned.

Must possess time management and organizational skills to effectively perform responsibilities.
Must possess good problem-solving skills and have the capability to act rationally and calmly in emergency situations.
Must be able to represent the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District in a courteous and professional manner.
Must be able to make judgments with respect to confidentiality of information and problem solving.
Must exhibit good safety awareness and judgment in all aspects of the position.
JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with children
Must possess valid driver's license
Reliable transportation
First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or the willingness to become certified
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
A minimum of two years of dance and/or poms experience.
