The Queens College Department of Athletics seeks a motivated and energetic Dance Team Coach to lead and develop the College Dance Team. The Dance Team serves as an important component of the game-day experience, promoting school spirit and supporting Queens College Athletics at home contests and campus events. The coach will be responsible for recruiting, training, supervising, and mentoring student performers while fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.

The Dance Team Coach is expected to conduct regularly scheduled practices throughout the academic year and attend and supervise performances at designated home athletic contests. The coach will be responsible for fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture that reflects the values and mission of Queens College and the Department of Athletics. Additionally, the coach will serve as a mentor and role model for student participants, promoting personal growth, teamwork, professionalism, and a commitment to academic and athletic excellence.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit, retain, and develop student members for the Queens College Dance Team.

  • Plan and conduct regular practices throughout the academic year.

  • Choreograph and teach routines for performances at home athletic contests and select campus events.

  • Coordinate and supervise team participation at home basketball games and other assigned athletic events.

  • Promote school spirit and fan engagement through performances and appearances.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices, performances, and travel, if applicable.

  • Work collaboratively with Athletics staff to coordinate game-day schedules, special events, and promotional activities.

  • Assist with the selection, inventory, and maintenance of team uniforms and equipment.

  • Manage team activities within the budget and guidelines established by the Athletics Department.

  • Assist with fundraising.

  • Other duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, previous experience coaching a collegiate dance team, and experience working with student-athletes in a higher education environment. Candidates should possess an understanding of NCAA Division II athletics and demonstrate the ability to effectively mentor and support student participants. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification are preferred, or candidates must be willing to obtain such certifications upon hire.

Pay Range:

$7,500 for the academic year
