General Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Analyst IV is a senior-level, individual contributor role embedded within the IES Holdings corporate team. This person will be the primary data analytics resource supporting Holdings-level functions including finance, HR, payroll, and IT — working directly with executive stakeholders to translate business needs into data solutions. This is a net-new position created to meet growing analytics demand at the Holdings level; a current team member is on an extended leave of absence, which has further surfaced the need for additional capacity.

This is a versatile, high-visibility role that blends data engineering, data modeling, and analytics delivery. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable sitting with an executive to understand their reporting needs as they are building the pipelines and models that power those insights. The role carries a confidentiality component given its direct exposure to executive and corporate financial data.

This position plays a key role in IES Holdings' active Microsoft Fabric implementation and will contribute to the organization's broader exploration of AI-assisted, real-time dashboard capabilities as the analytics strategy evolves beyond traditional BI tools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Executive & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner directly with C-suite and VP-level stakeholders to understand data and reporting needs, translating business requirements into clear, actionable analytics solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted data advisor to Holdings leadership — able to sit with an executive, navigate their workflow, and surface what they truly need from their data.
  • Communicate findings, limitations, and recommendations clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Manage competing priorities across multiple business functions with professionalism and discretion.

Data Engineering & Modeling

  • Design and build enterprise data models that support scalable, high-performance reporting across Holdings functions.
  • Extract, clean, and transform data from multiple sources including SQL Server, Azure, APIs, and finance/HR systems.
  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines and data workflows in support of the Microsoft Fabric implementation and ongoing data infrastructure initiatives.
  • Establish and uphold standards for data integrity, validation, and consistency across reporting environments.

Analytics Delivery & Visualization

  • Design and deliver dashboards and reports for executive, financial, and operational use cases across Holdings.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that directly inform leadership decisions.
  • Support the organization's ongoing evaluation of AI-assisted and real-time visualization approaches as alternatives to traditional BI platforms.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, and reporting requirements that align to business goals.

Governance & Operational Support

  • Maintain the performance, reliability, and accuracy of data products in production.
  • Handle sensitive corporate and financial data with the highest level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Contribute to the development of data governance standards and analytics best practices within the Holdings IT team.
  • Provide guidance and light mentorship to junior analytics team members as appropriate.
Specific Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data analytics, data engineering, or business intelligence roles.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including query optimization and complex joins.
  • Demonstrated experience in data modeling, dimensional modeling, and relational architecture.
  • Proven ability to work directly with executive or senior leadership stakeholders — translating ambiguous business needs into structured data requirements.
  • Experience building ETL pipelines and working with structured and semi-structured data across multiple source systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present complex data in clear, accessible terms.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, or comparable cloud data platforms.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or other BI/visualization tools (Power BI experience is a plus, not a requirement).
  • Exposure to AI-assisted analytics, natural language querying, or real-time dashboard generation.
  • Experience supporting finance, HR, payroll, or IT reporting use cases in a corporate environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
  • Experience handling confidential or sensitive corporate data.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Executive presence — comfortable navigating conversations with senior leadership.
  • Intellectual curiosity — driven to understand business context, not just fulfill data requests.
  • Attention to detail — high standard for accuracy, especially with sensitive financial and HR data.
  • Self-direction — able to manage priorities and deliver in a lean, nimble environment.
  • Adaptability — comfortable working in an organization actively evolving its data strategy and tooling.
