About MedZed

MedZed is a leader in delivering value-based, technology-enabled social support to high-cost Medicaid members who are unreachable and disconnected from their primary care provider. We combine innovative outreach and care models with technology to find and engage members, connect them to primary care, and improve outcomes. Our intervention yields reduced costs and assists our members in enhancing their quality of life. MedZed is a growth-stage, PE-backed healthcare services company serving high-cost Medicaid recipients through Community Health Navigators. With 330 employees operating across three states, we connect underserved populations to the social and health resources they need. We are scaling rapidly and investing in data and analytics as a core enabler of that growth.

Position Overview

We are building MedZed's analytics function and looking for a Data Analyst who will be a core contributor on a lean team - someone who can own and drive the analytics products the business runs on. This is a highly visible, hands-on role: you will build the data sources, construct the dashboards, write the SQL and Python, document your work, train the people who use it, and own the backlog of enhancement requests. You will be a partner with product, operations, clinical, finance, and program leadership to turn their questions into decision-grade analytics. You will operate with autonomy, be held to high standards of rigor and polish, and deliver with fast turnaround. This is not a role for someone who wants narrowly scoped tickets; it is for an exceptionally strong technical analyst who runs toward ownership, accountability, and visibility.

Key Responsibilities

Build and Own the Analytics Products

Design, build, and maintain the curated data sources, dashboards, and reports that drive operational decision-making across our programs. Own each product end to end - from requirements through building, documentation, training, and ongoing enhancement.

Write the SQL and Shape the Data Model

Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL against our cloud data environment. Partner with data engineering to expose the data you need, and contribute to a sustainable, well-structured analytical layer. Articulate data requirements clearly and build for performance and reuse.

Automate Recurring Reporting

Build and maintain Python-based reporting pipelines for recurring operational, compliance, and quality deliverables. Validate rigorously - reconcile numbers to source, QA before release, and stand behind the figures you publish.

Document, Train, and Maintain

Produce clear documentation for the data sources and dashboards you build. Train and enable the people who use them. Maintain a prioritized backlog of enhancement requests and re-prioritize as the business needs shift.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative discipline, or a degree plus equivalent real-world experience as a data analyst.
  • 3+ years in data analytics roles, with a demonstrated ability to drive complex work to decision and resolution.
  • Strong SQL skills - you can articulate what you need, build a sustainable model, and optimize performance.
  • Advanced dashboarding/BI skills; Tableau strongly preferred (experience with product-embedded dashboards a plus).
  • Proficiency with Python for data work (pandas and related libraries) and report automation.
  • Strong, audience-aware written and verbal communication, with the ability to work in a self-directed environment on a lean team.
  • Laser focuses on results: getting things done on time with high quality

Preferred

  • Healthcare analytics experience, especially Medicaid and California CalAIM; EMR or care management system reporting.
  • Familiarity with dimensional/Kimball data modeling and the bronze/silver/gold (medallion) pattern.
  • Azure (SQL, cloud data services); exposure to Databricks a plus.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce / Health Cloud as a data source.
  • Comfort using AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate development - with the judgment to validate and hone generated output.
  • Customer-facing experience in an analytics role.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Remote-first work environment
  • High-impact role
  • The opportunity to build meaningful analytics products at a mission-driven healthcare company

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires the employee to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods while performing desk-based computer tasks.
  • The employee must be able to constantly operate a computer, keyboard, and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • The person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office/remote workspace to access file cabinets, office machinery, or other resources.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to lift and move objects weighing up to 10 pounds (e.g., a laptop, files, or small office equipment).
  • Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less is required for working with computers and reading small print.
