Data Analyst Specialist

• The contractor should have 5 8 years of experience delivering software solutions in an agile environment and will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications leveraging AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, and RDS/DynamoDB) and modern languages such as Python, Java, Angular, and Dash.
• Candidates should also have familiarity with authentication and security best practices (e.g., OAuth, Okta), CI/CD tools (like GitHub workflows), AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code), AI development platforms (e.g., AWS Bedrock, Microsoft Copilot Studio), and cloud monitoring practices.
• Strong preference for candidates with prior Vanguard experience and a record of good standing.

To give you some background, my team focuses on AWS development within an analytics environment. We build and support platforms, dashboards, and data services that enable strategic decision-making. The business area we support is the Portfolio Review department, which is responsible for evaluating and managing the product offerings in the market.

Their work includes analyzing fund performance, assessing asset allocation strategies, overseeing advisors, and making recommendations related to advisor changes or fund launches. Because of the strategic nature of the work, our team's primary responsibility is ensuring that accurate, high-quality data is available through dashboards and reporting platforms. We integrate with data providers such as FactSet and Morningstar and develop solutions that allow leadership teams to quickly access and interpret critical business information.

Our environment is highly dynamic. At times, we receive urgent requests from senior leadership that require rapid turnaround, whether that involves writing SQL queries, building lightweight UIs, or quickly assembling data insights using Python and Dash. We are also beginning to expand into AI-related initiatives across our applications and platforms.

From a technology perspective, our ecosystem is heavily AWS-focused. We use PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB, and other AWS-native services. On the development side, we currently have two primary needs:

• A senior-level Python/Dash developer who can work quickly in a fast-paced analytics environment
• A senior-level Java/Angular developer to support broader platform development efforts

Both roles require robust AWS experience, experience working in Agile environments, and the ability to mentor junior team members. Ideally, we are looking for versatile engineers who can contribute across multiple technologies, but we are also open to hiring separate specialists for each focus area.

Candidates with prior Client experience and a robust reputation here would receive priority consideration, especially contractors who have previously worked successfully within the organization.

At the moment, these roles are based in Malvern, PA only with a hybrid work model.

Looking ahead, we also have several broader transformation initiatives underway, particularly around AI integration across applications and systems. Candidates with diverse technical backgrounds and leadership potential could have opportunities beyond these immediate openings as those initiatives continue to evolve.
