Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Data Architect to support data architecture, data integration, and enterprise data initiatives for the
U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). The Data Architect will work across business and technical teams to design scalable, secure, and sustainable data architectures and integration solutions that support DOJ information systems and mission requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in enterprise data architecture, data integration, data modeling, data governance, and modern data technologies, with the ability to translate business and mission requirements into effective technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain enterprise and solution-level data architecture and data models.
- Design scalable data integration solutions across disparate applications, databases, and data sources.
- Define data structures, data flows, interfaces, integration patterns, and data exchange mechanisms.
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Establish data architecture standards, principles, and reusable patterns.
- Assess existing data environments and recommend modernization and optimization strategies.
- Collaborate with solution architects, systems engineers, developers, cybersecurity professionals, and business stakeholders.
- Support data governance, data quality, metadata, master data, and information management initiatives.
- Ensure data solutions address security, privacy, availability, integrity, and appropriate access requirements.
- Analyze data integration challenges and recommend appropriate technical approaches.
- Develop architecture documentation, technical diagrams, data models, standards, and design artifacts.
- Support implementation teams in translating architecture into deployable solutions.
- Participate in architecture reviews, technical assessments, and modernization initiatives.
- Ensure solutions align with applicable DOJ IT, cybersecurity, privacy, and data-management requirements.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Management, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, database architecture, or related disciplines.
- Strong experience with enterprise data modelling and data integration.
- Experience designing data architectures across complex enterprise environments.
- Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases.
- Experience developing data flows, integration patterns, and technical architecture documentation.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata, and data security concepts.
- Experience working with cross-functional technical and business teams.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government or DOJ environments.
- Experience with cloud-based data architectures.
- Experience with ETL/ELT, APIs, messaging, and enterprise integration technologies.
- Experience with modern data platforms, data lakes, data warehouses, or similar architectures.
- Knowledge of Federal cybersecurity, privacy, and information-management requirements.
- Experience with architecture frameworks and enterprise architecture methodologies.
Clearance
U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain the applicable federal Public Trust suitability determination.
Compensation:
The expected compensation range for this position is $130,000 - $200,000 annually. Compensation is determined in good faith and may vary based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, clearance level, labor category alignment, contract requirements, work location, internal equity, and business needs.
The posted range reflects the Sky's reasonable estimate at the time of posting and does not guarantee a specific salary or rate. Final compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications and applicable contractual and business considerations.
